And What Names Did You Call Your Cats Today?

September 6th, 2008 by gayef

Have you ever noticed that our cats names will spawn newer, more creative names than we ones we originally gave them?  Mine certainly do … I have four Old-Style Siamese cats; Tonka, a blue point male, Lexus, a seal point female, George, a blue point male and Pearl, a seal point female.  George and Pearl are the offspring of Tonka and Lexus.

Tonka is know as “Stinka”, “Stinky-Boy” and “Stink-Bug”.  When he plays aggressively with one of his fur mousies, he is known as “The Tonkinator”.

Lexus has many names but chiefly among them is “Bo-Bex”, “Boo-Sha” and “Lexigator”.  She tends to be the diplomat in our home, breaking up friction between George and Pearl when they get into a tussle.

George is simply known as “Butterball” for his way of slipping into your lap without you even being aware of it until you need to get up.

I am horrible about making up little names for Pearl … bless her heart, she is the best cat ever, loving and gentle, kind to everyone and quite smart.  But somehow she has become known as “Pearl, Pot of Peas”, “Pearlpottamus” or just “Pot”.  She is a robust girl, stocky and substantial and resembles a little pot.  *grin*

I love them all dearly, but I wonder … am I the only one who makes up names for their cats?  I don’t think I am, but would love to hear some of the funny things other people call their kitties!

  1. Anne Moss Says:

We call our Mishmish things like “Squirrel” or “ferret” because she’s very agile and fast and tends to dart around a lot, and with that bushy tail of hers, she’s just very “squirrely”.

  2. Pam Says:

Ah the nicknames. Mine are usually called many other names other than their real names, although, we have kept the real names and do use those on occasion.

Poor Ducky has totally been mistreated when it comes to his other name because he is most often called Doo Doo. I called him that and it just caught on with others. Its quite disgusting, but funny to me at the same time. Poor Ducky. He is also called Ducky Doo, Dooby Doo, Dooby ….

Tino is Beano, Bean Bean, Meano Tino. Sometimes, we call him TinA just to look at him give us a snarl so we can laugh.

Laura would be Laura Loo, Loo Loo, Peanut, Peeny, Peeny Poo.

Kiko, Baby, Kiko Freako, KiKi, Keno…

Easy …. EB, Easy Belle, Sweetie Girl, Angel, Love Muffin.

The thing with our nicknames is they always turn into something new, so in a year from now, I will probably have new ones that have come from these.

  3. Susan (Rosiemac) Says:

Sophie was called “Sophiekins” this morning. I Usually sing “Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, my gorgeous little Sophie!!” because she’s such a prim and proper little lady.

Rosie usually gets Miss wobble bum” because it always seems to go from side to side when she walks, but i think that’s because her tummy is big. *Wheres the bag for my head*

Jack get’s called “Jackie boy” or Baby boo”

  4. Jade (emrldsky) Says:

We call Scotty several things: Chunker-dunk, stinky butt (he has anal gland stink sometimes), fuzzy butt, big guy, big kitty, and other names that just pop into our heads.

Oscar has better names: Doodle, doodle head, doodle butt, Oscar Mayer, magnet head (even if he really wants down, he’ll still head butt you), and sweetie pie. But he’ll answer to Oscar or Doodle. ;)

  5. WELDRWOMN Says:

We have two torties. The larger one, Marcie, is usually called “Large Cat” or “Marcinator”. The smaller cat, Darcy, is usually called “Little Cat”, “Squirt”, “Fuzz-butt”, or “Darcy-Muffin”.

  6. CarolPetunia Says:

Anne, I have a Pearl, too (and she, too, is the “best cat ever!”). When she came to us, she was only six months old, and had not yet grown into her fabulous tail — so she became “Pearl The Squirrel.”

My father used to call Dylan “Sheriff Dylan,” because he’s the kitty in charge of household security.

Mom calls Sassy — a very plump and fluffy calitortie — her “Little Bear Cub.”

St. John is most often called our “Punkin.”

Abby is a lady of such dignity that my father decided we should address her as “Miss Abby.”

And Clyde, who is very good at completely ignoring your existence unless he wants something, often gets called, “Hey You, Light Of My Life,” when I’m trying in vain to get his attention. :lol3:

We have two traditional Siamese kitties, and they have lots of nicknames!

Bamf is a seal point, and he started getting a little pot belly right after we brought him home. It wasn’t long before we started calling him “Chubby,” which soon progressed to “Mr. Chubbs” and “Chubby Bubby.” On account of his very black/brown nose, he is also called “Poopnose” when he is being rotten, as in “What are you doing, you little Poopnose! Get outta there!” He answers to Bamf, Bamfie, Mr. Chubbs, and Chubby!

Pixel is a lynx point, so we call her “Stripie” a lot. I think we came up with that one after we started calling Bamf “Poopnose,” because her nose is very stripey. She also answers to “Pixie,” “Pixie-cat,” “Tunnel cat,” and “Crazy.” We sing little songs about Tunnel cat and what tunnel cat loves to do (climb inside of anything that resembles a tunnel and stick her head into any hole that she might be able to squeeze into…).

Both of them are also affectionately called “Cutens” instead of kittens, because they are so little and cute!

  8. NANCY(CATTYBIRD) Says:

Gosh, my cats have lots of names.:). Gracie is The Princess, Feathertail, Miss White Paws, Pretty Girl, Shy One, Cutie Pie. Casey is The Boss, Mister, Ringtail, Handsome, The Bully and The Supervisor.:).

  9. Fran Says:

    Nicknames…

Well, Cindy (Tortie) is Mum’s Cinnamon Bun, being dusted with cinnamon, and being both sweet and spicy. Mostly that gets contracted to Bun. She’s also Mum’s Woolly Bear.

Fawn is Daddy’s Girl, Mum’s little nutcase, Mum’s blue eyed tiger.

And they are, respectively, “The Bestest Bun in the Whole Wide World” and “The Bestest Little Tiger in the Whole Wide World”. EVERYone needs to be “the bestest” SOMEthing. ;)

  10. Linda Says:

    I have four cats.
I quite often call Morris, Mo Mo.
Maggie’s nickname is Miss Maggie May, or Princess.
I sometimes call Brady, Little One or Brady Boy.
Jerry’s nickname is Jerry Bo Berry.

    My son has two cats.
Bitsy is sometimes called Boo Boo or Bitsy Boo.
Pearl, who is pure black and a sweetheart is sometimes called Pearly or Pearl Girl.

  11. Robbi Says:

    I have three babies.
Molly Brown (she was named that when I adopted her) I call her Mo-Mo or Beauty Queen or Molly girl.
Victor I call him Big Boy or Sweet Boy or Beautiful Boy
And then there is Tiny Tink, she started as Victoria (she and Victor are tuxedos and bro and sis adopted together) we started out calling her Tinkerbell then it was Tink then Tiny Tink and also sometimes Squeaky or Squeaker girl because she has a meow that is more like a squeak.

  12. Pennie Mills Says:

I have so many nicknames, I sometimes make up different ones daily, depending on what they are up to. We have a mother and her two babies-not little babies anymore tho :) Their regular nicknames are quite simple, Nathan is nae-nae, Chloe is chlo-chlo and Pretty Kitty is pree-pree. Their other names are apt to include words like-baby, girl, boy, cutsie, trubbs, delicate one, missy, sir, beautiful, etc.
